A MAGAZINE @ Fashion on Paper, Rome
Over this past weekend, A MAGAZINE curated by was privileged to be a part of Alta Roma’s inaugural Fashion on Paper conference in Rome, Italy – a celebration of independent fashion titles across the globe and a chance to meet and greet other players in the industry who are quietly carving their own individual niches.
The exhibition took place in the stunning temple of Hadrian in the Piazza di Pietra in Rome, it’s ruined columns a dramatic backdrop for the winding arena of stands from magazines such as our Swiss friends Sang Bleu, the German 032C, and a plethora of Italian titles including KULT, Nero and The End.

Representatives from each magazine showcased issues of their title in the Festival of Independent Magazines, offering their capsule cultural realms to the guests and other exhibitors, to share ideas on everything related to online to print publishing – from distribution to advertising, from photographers to the power of bloggers.

In the evenings, participants were treated to exclusive performances and talks from industry players, such as past A contributor Maria Luisa Frisa talking on her new book about Gianfranco Ferre, created in association with the Fondazione Pitti Discovery. 032C’s Joerg Koch introduced his magazine in a short seminar, while CommonUncommon magazine showcased a performance by electro band Bunny Lake.
Other highlights included various explorations of fashion, film and music presented by various titles, including live performance art by Italian-based Christian Rainer and Belgian Kania Tieffer, Kania using an archaic computer to create electronic sound atmospheres.

All in all, an enlightening weekend amongst esteemed peers, sharing ideas in a positive creative atmosphere. Fun and motivational, we would like to thank AltaRoma for their kind invitation, and their hard work to support independent publishing worldwide.
