Felicity Brown and the end of spring
A MAGAZINE presents a whimsical series of photographs and watercolour paintings by the New York-based artist Erik Madigan Heck, featuring the Spring Summer 2011 collection of young British fashion designer Felicity Brown. The images are the first look at Erik’s upcoming print title ‘January to August’, and propose a unique reflection between one artist’s own paintings and photography - exploring the relationship between the clothing, the natural world, and color. Works on paper are also juxtaposed, made with oil paint placed on top of photographs.
Having worked alongside Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, Alberta Ferretti and Mulberry, London-based designer Felicity Brown launched her own label in 2009, and has caught the eye of key international press and boutiques for her exquisitely layered silk dresses that are carefully crafted in swirling volumes of fabric. There is a couture touch to her work, with some pieces requiring over sixty layers of fine silk to construct their ballooning yet sensual shapes.
