‘Too Dark One Light’, Richie Culver

East London’s LN-CC (Late Night Chameleon Café, for those in the know) present their inaugural foray into the art world on June 15th, with British artist Richie Culver‘s ‘Too Dark One Light’ solo show. Previously lauded for their cutting-edge runway collections, rare publications and recordings, LN-CC is proving in a short while to be one of the city’s cultural hotspots – hosting alternative music gigs, book launches and other fashionable happenings in their subterranean location.
Comprising a series of paintings, collages and mixed–media installations, Culver’s ‘Too Dark One Light’ continues the artist’s exploration of love, loss and communication; it’s heavily autobiographical and fiercely honest, inviting the viewer to share in emotional, private and often pivotal moments in his life. Highlights of the exhibition include ‘Quiet as you go up the stairs, my dad’s got a bad back’ and ‘I Loved You’ which relates to the artist’s attempts to communicate with a former girlfriend after the relationship fell apart, by spraying these words on her new home.
‘Too Dark One Light’ will run in store at LN-CC from June 16th until July 7th with an opportunity to view and purchase artwork.
