Horses by Steven Klein

Horses by Steven Klein, 1995/2004

”Everyone in fashion is striving for this kind of perfect beauty, and horses have it without any effort,” Steven Klein said.

For A#3, Haider Ackermann has chosen a series of horse photographs by the acclaimed fashion photographer Steven Klein, who has turned his lens on the elegant beast in a long-running series of personal work. The images all share a striking power, with the raw physicality of the horses on full display. The precisely trimmed manes and carefully braided tails are a sharp contrast to the muscular, veined bodies of the animals – a human cosmetic touch that when coupled with studio lighting and contrasting backdrops, signifies the horse as a living artwork itself.

  1. it’s quite beautiful, how he’s featured elements of the horse’s body, abstracted into parts and shot in black and white.
