FURNITURE by Jun Takahashi

A design piece by Jun Takahashi

Among Jun Takahashi’s many talents and hobbies is the art of furniture-making, or rather ‘customising’. In A#4, photographer Yoshie Tominaga has shot some of Jun’s pieces, including a dramatic dressing room, replete with velvet curtains and embedded swords. Jun has taken culturally significant icons (such as a chair by Charles & Ray Eames) and subverted their contexts – in the case of the Eames chair, it becomes an anarchist symbol. His stunning studio space in Harajuku, Tokyo, is also a testament to Jun’s appreciation for industrial design – and a cohesive vision that extends far beyond fashion.
