Photography | Simon Marsden
British photographer Simon Marsden has established himself in a unique photographic niche – the exploration and documentation of haunted sites and supernatural phenomena.
With a childhood spent in ancient British country homes and with a family addicted to ghost stories, Marsden’s ghoulish background inspires his striking photographic portfolio – a world of gothic ruins, gargoyles, impenetrable forests, crumbling castles and dark religious iconography. He works almost exclusively in black and white, showcasing stark landscapes and architecture often at night.
Several pieces of Simon’s work are presented in A MAGAZINE CURATED BY JUN TAKAHASHI, placing them in the context of the UNDERCOVER world, their alien aesthetic resonating well with Takahashi. We can imagine the ‘Grace’ dolls of Jun’s creation peering out of castle windows and gliding across silent lakes.
