Per te elisabetta, Sybille Walter & Mauricio Nardi

Sybille Walter is a Paris-based photographer and the co-founder of Encens magazine. With a passion for the drape and fall of mens and womens clothing, a subtle tailoring and a softness of finish and form, Sybille’s eye falls naturally on the work of Kris Van Assche.

For A#7, Sybille explored her vision of Kris Van Assche’s womenwear with an editorial, a dedication named ‘Per te elisabetta’ (for you elisabetta), accentuating the heavily pleated and masculine forms that lend power and confidence to the wearer of these garments. In her shoot directed by Mauricio Nardi, power cords snake through an empty office building, as favourite Encens model Asia Bugajska offers her deathly-pale visage and cherry red lips. The deconstructed nature of Kris’s clothes is extremely evident here, and several of his pieces have been shot with lining exposed, buttons open or reattached.

Glamorous yet minimalist, Kris’s work is frozen in a theatrical moment by Sybille –  as his woman becomes a powerful modern day warrior.
