“When Kris asked me to collaborate for A Magazine, my first thought was to go back to the basics. I went to the place where he was born and that he already mentioned to me quite often ever since I met him, Londerzeel. I took a train there and made photographs as a first attempt and in order to develop an idea and get inspiration for my contribution to A Magazine curated by Kris van Assche. I spent a beautiful day in a peaceful place very impressed by just the imagination of the difference of live for Kris between Londerzeel and Paris.

It was then that Kris asked me to portray both his teams for KVA and Dior Homme, which I thought to be a beautiful and interesting idea as well. The idea also had this ‘backstage’ feeling that I was looking for and it was an idea in which I could recognize my friend Kris very well as the idea says a lot about his personality. I love doing portraits and loved the challenge to make 63 portraits in very little time and to meet the teams behind Kris van Assche, the designer. We decided to go for that idea from which I still keep very good memories.” – Wiglius De Bie, December 2009.
