Good news #7 / Bonne nouvelle #7

MMM

The Maison Martin Margiela continues to roll out its ingenious new range of products from Line 13 “Objects and Publications”, with their May 2010 release of three new pieces that carry their quirky and ironic aesthetic, always challenging convention and re-interpreting traditional design for striking effect.

The first is a complement to their recent ventures in homewares and furniture – as a series of trompe l’oeil (trick of the eye) stickers, printed with full-size white doors. Each is heavily accented with apparent beveling and woodwork, creating the image of a real door through to an imaginary room – on any wall you choose!

This is followed by a cheeky magnifying glass in the shape of half a heavy pair of black spectacles – Truman Capote frames becoming opera glasses, and finally a candle-holder made from wax – a self-perpetuating piece that will constantly grow into new, dripping formations as you use it.

Each of the pieces will be available in Maison Martin Margiela stores from this month.
