Cédric Rivrain is a Paris-based artist whose fashion illustrations have gained cult status for their exquisite delicacy, soft textures and subdued deconstruction of fashion moments. For Martine Sitbon’s A#5, Cédric has sketched the likenesses of top models Irina Lazareanu, Agyness Deyn and Coco Rocha ‘wearing’ designs by Martine Sitbon for her label Rue du Mail. The girls stare from the pages with convincing expression and stance – their bodies fading into the grain of the paper, accented in amber shades across cheekbone, thigh, clavicle or wrist. Irina’s dress comes alive in her fingers [above], while Agyness grasps a white opera mask, and Coco seduces in a little black dress. In each image, wearing each dress, the girls assume different identities – from demure dames to fierce femme fatales.
