A#9′s Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez are the first A designers to kick off our spring summer 2010 fashion week season.

Proenza Schouler has become synonymous with a powerful, fresh and youthfully feminine aesthetic with an awkward and unexpected twist, and this latest deliverance was no exception. Bucking obvious trends while remaining up to date, Jack and Lazaro’s designs successfully toe a delicate line – with sporty, retro referencing coupled with the precision of modern production and textiles and an almost geeky twist.

For spring summer 2010, the boys showed a vibrant rainforest palette of citrus yellow, cobalt blue and emerald green, bordering on the psychadelic yet pared back with monochrome pieces in classic tailored shirting and blazers. Wraparound polarized shades lent a further utilitarian, sporty edge, and the shoes were a simple peep toe backless platform that kept a fast-paced party vibe throughout. Cutaway draping and panelling allowed Proenza Schouler to experiment with slashed layers of marabou, leather and pailletes – subtle and never bulky.

Congratulations on a beautiful collection, a highlight of New York Fashion week and
