Compliments to beautiful men #3: Philip Agiurre y Otegiu

Philip Aguire Y Otegui by Alex Salinas

Philip Aguirre Y Otegui is the third of Veronique Branquinho’s men celebrated in A#6, a Belgian sculptor whose politically and socially touching works are a realisation of his unique and personal relationship with time and space.

Philip constantly conducts specific studies in the personal reaction and the social dynamics of territories. The pieces featured in A#6 include ‘Fallen Dictator’, a sculpture of what seems to be a fallen statue of old, made new into a modern and relevant situation by it’s disconnection from the plinth and a sense of  vulnerability lying static on the ground. 1998′s Exodus featured on the following page is an absent immigration – created in the African nation of Senegal, a careful orchestration of a trail of shoe-less soles (read: souls?) travelling into the distance.

PHILIP ON HER: sensual, amitie, will-power, joie de vivre, la beauté
