Pin Cushion Queen, by Tim Burton
Genius filmmaker, writer and artist Tim Burton has contributed a series of his darkly whimsical cartoons for Veronique Branquinho’s A#6. The first is Pin Cushion Queen, daintily perched upon her spiked throne, positively unstitched by the piercing accoutrements of her royal station.
She is one of the characters from Burton’s book ‘The melancholy death of Oyster Boy and other stories’ created in 1997 and filled with some rather unusual children, such as The Boy with Nails in his Eyes, and The Girl who turned into a Bed. Each with their individual, ethereal charm and a slightly twisted story to tell.
The Pin Cushion Queen
“Life isn’t easy
for the Pin Cushion Queen
When she sits on her throne
pins push through her spleen.”
